Into the Night - Campsite - Ruth Andre

Into the Night - Campsite

"Into the Night - Campsite"

12"x12"x1.5" oil on canvas

by Ruth Andre

Today's painting is quite minimal and graphic using a subbed palette. I remember my first design class in graphic design and the project was to paint with just black on white. This painting has added color but the minimal design is strong. This may also be the beginning of a new series called, "Into the Night". The name has been percolating on the back burner and when I went to the studio today the painting presented itself. It has been, "A Painting Day".

New Blog-A Painting Day

My paintings have transformed themselves from representational to abstract works in the last year. The new work has been an awakening, revealing the inner spirit of my heart. The paint moved from palette knife to canvas releasing the paint to tell its own story. My hand held the energy from within as the mixing of paint colors ignited and nature's beauty emerged.
You will find my new works available at my Blogs Site - A Painting Day.

Rodeo Queens

I was at a livestock auction in Manteca, California looking to take a few cow photographs.  As I walked down one shoot between cow  holding stalls, I saw a herd of cows heading my way.  They were coming rather fast too so over the fence I went just in time to take a photo of these two cows leading the way.  I have wanted to paint these two cow-girls for sometime and thought I would make a study 6x6-inch painting to see how they looked on canvas.  It was a fun day in Manteca and I got a few photos and lots and lots of memories.

Apple of My Eye

"Apple of My Eye"
It is September already with summer beginning to be just a memory.  Time seems to be moving faster and faster these days.  I hear my son say the same thing so maybe it is universal for us all?  This little painting is just 4x4-inches filled with the luscious colors of a little Appaloosa filly.  I love the way she is looking back to investigate what I am doing.  The camera has her fascinated.  I hope you enjoy her as well.

Shenandoah

The painting today is of a Palomino Quarter Horse mare named Diamond.   She is a lively mare and lives on small ranch in the Shenandoah Valley, here in the foothills of northern California.  I have painted Diamond before and her pasture mate, Pocket Full of Silver.  Enjoy!

Herefords

"Herefords", 5x7-inches, o/c by Ruth Andre
I visited the Double CC Ranch awhile back and this painting came from several photos taken that day.  It was a fine day and the Herefords were getting their annual check over.  These two girls were off to the side happy to be free and on their own once again.  Enjoy!
