"Cisco Kid"-12x12-inches

This painting, "Cisco Kid",  is #3 of a series of horses with shadows.  The other two paintings are "The Lone Ranger" and "Lonesome Dove".  The horse in this painting is also one of my herd, Hopi.  She is the little wild paint of the group.  We brought Hopi to our farm when she was only 7 months old.  She had been roaming free on a 300 acre farm with a herd of horses. Hopi was accepted by our head mare, Angel, and to this day they are seen side by side in the pasture.

16x8-inches/oil on canvas

I am surrounded by Quater Horses, here in Northern California and enjoy their beauty and their athletic abilities.  I received an invitation to show two paintings at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame Museum in Amarillo, Texas,  this coming summer.  The exhibit is  "Art of the Horse".  I have decided to start painting for the show and hopefully find two out of 4 or 5 paintings that may win the hearts of Quarter Horse lovers.  This is Red Quarter, a sorrel gelding.

Mesquite-9x12-inches, oil on canvas

I love painting colts.  Mesquite is a lively wild Mustang with big eyes and a most interesting blaze.

"Baby Elk"-14x14 inches, Oil on Canvas

This is a baby Elk that just looks like a little fuzz ball of hair with a big interest on what is out there in the world.  I had a lot of fun painting this little guy.

"Bella"-5x5-inches
It has been raining hard here in California.  The sun has only made a short showing the last couple of weeks.  I am thinking, "SPRING" and then thought of "BIRDS", and decided to paint a bird.  This is "Bella", a black crow.  She is small in size but big on impact.  She looks as if she might be able to handle herself pretty well.  She may also be thinking of spring?

"Lonesome Dove" - 12x12-inches

A friend, here in the foothills, is owned by this Quarter Horse gelding.  I say, owned because he seems to be just a touch spoiled.  He is also the head of his herd.  I love painting this boy.

"Shaman"-12x12-inches

You will be seeing quite a few Bison paintings coming along in the future.  Bison/Buffalo have become a passion for me.  I have always admired these majestic creatures.  I have also met some very nice folks who raise buffalo.  I enjoy hearing about their love of ranching and raising there stock.  This big fellow seemed to have something to say, as I painted him, so I am calling him, "Shaman".

Take a look at the Western Art Collector Magazine-December 2009 issue.  It will be available for purchase in a few days.  I have an ad highlighting my new painting, "Ranch Dudes", on page 32 and an editorial piece showing my "Mystery" painting,  on page 63.  It is an honor to have my art shown with so many wonderful western artists.
